In the case that you are using 8-bit standard serial boot mode:
- connect boot device to McBSP1 (McBSP0 is used for 16-bit)
- boot device must provide BCLKR slower than 1/2 CPU clock
- it must also provide BFSR, and ensure that bit 7 (MSB) is sent on
the falling edge of BFSR, so there's no delay.
- bits per frame (BPF) must be greater than 20 BPF
- only starts the sequence upon detection of low XF
In the case that you are using 8-bit EEPROM, the requirement is
different. C5402 uses SPI during bootloading in this mode.

There is no delay, your second 'Diagram' is correct.
After boot up it is important to send some extra clock's to the spi
before
you start to send your data.
