Hello all

I'm a newbie here and interested in getting hold of a Motorola DSP evaluation board to play with.

They seem pretty hard to get hold of and from the Motorola website it seems that the only one

currently available for Audio applications is a 56300 family one. But so expensive!? $750 for one?

Is this right? Can anyone point me to a supplier of these in the UK? Ideally I'd like a 56002 EVM

but wonder how much they cost if you can still buy them.

The 56002EVM is long gone. The SRAM that was on them went obsolete and the board never got redesigned to use something else. And, the 56002 device itself has also gone obsolete. The audio EVM is expensive because it accomodates the entire Motorola audio DSP product line on daughter cards and does all the nifty decoding provided you have the appropriate licenses. It would be overkill if you do not have the licenses or do not intend to get them. The other 56300 family DSPs have at least as much horsepower as the audio series as well as more internal RAM in all the memory spaces. The peripherals are slightly different, but they should still be usable in many audio applications.
