Richard,

FYI - more historical info - if you are interested...
There was a lot of 6211 DSK drama when it first came out [folks like
Jeff Brower lived a lot of it]. I consulted on the project after "most
of the die was cast". There was an unending stream of "my DSK will not
work" issues - mostly related to several slight differences in parallel
port implementations, Windoze OS differences in requirements, a poor
implementation of the parallel port driver, and the odd way that CCS v1
had to be configured [not to mention that the board was designed with 2
obsolete major components]. The follow-on 6711 DSK [same hardware with
the fixed point 6211 replaced with a floating point 6711] had an
improved driver and the dsk6x11.bat to help users verify their parallel
port configuration to get CCS up and running. TI [indirectly] admitted
that proper DSK development was not one of their core competencies
[among other issues] and they sought out SD to develop the 6713 DSK.

The 6711 DSK was developed by TI prior to their contract with SD.

For the record...

This board and previous EVMs and DSKs developed by TI or developed under
contract for 'TI branding' [the 6201/6701 EVM is the most infamous]
"used to be" supported by TI.
I believe that all versions of CCS v3 included support for 6211/6711
DSKs [including schematics and help files]. The only possible exception
would be if this was removed for later '6713 DSK ONLY' versions of CCS
[I am about 99% sure that this did not have]. The problem that could
occur is if the '6713 DSK Only' version required the presence of a 6713
DSK for proper operation [I do not remember how the original DSK only
version of CCS was implemented].

mzaher,

If you are saying that the CCS you purchased is missing the cable between the PC
and the DSK, then you will want to be looking at the spectrum digital web site.

for instance:

The appropriate drivers are available from a link off the above web page

TI does not support the development boards, only their DSPs.
Spectrum Digital manufactures (and supports) the development kits.

Note:
1) If the CD you have does not have the appropriate drivers for the C6711, then
you can download the appropriate .dll file file Spectrum Digital and install it
on your PC.
2) a phone call to Spectrum Digital will lead you to the right drivers,
hardware, etc. In the U.S.A., that number is Sales: (281) 494-4500 x 113
3) at the bottom left of the (above) web page is 'help desk' clickable link that
will allow you to contact the Spectrum Digital support without making any long
distance phone calls.

thanks mikedunn
i have pport and the configurations are ok
i figured out that i was cheated by seller from ebay because the enclosed CCStudio CD is a copy not original and is not dedicated for C6711DSK but for another one. as you can see the main problem is that TI doesn't support my kit anymore.

PLEASE HELP ME finding "C6711 DSK Port 278 EPP Mode" emulator so that i add it to CCStudio

thank you in advance

mzaher,

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding.
However, port 278 EPP mode
is an emulation of the EPP mode of operation of the parallel port found on a PC.

The c6000 series of microprocessors is still well supported, including the C6711.

So I would not expect a 'board' labeled port 278 EPP mode.

However, A search of ti.com may find a example of code to emulate a port 278
running in EPP mode.

a quick memory dump...
This product was introduced around 1999/2000?? [I can't remember, it
was so long ago]. I have not looked at the ref doc.
1. There should be a batch file in ../cc/bin with a name something like
dsk6x11.bat. you can use it to check the pport and configuration.
2. your pc needs a parallel port setup correctly in the BIOS.
3. there may be problems with the pport config on your version of windows.
4. there are probably 100s of 6211/6711 parallel port messages in the
archives. pay attention to ones authored by myself or Jeff Brower [no
offense to other folks - these are the names that I remember for sound
advice from 10 [??] years ago.

hi guys,

SOS

i am a beginner in DSPs. i bought C6711 DSK from ebay a month ago and i paid about 185$. the enclosed CCStudio is v3.3 and the problem i'm facing is that i can't find "C6711 DSK Port 278 EPP Mode" emulator in "Available Factory Boards" in CCStudio as described in
http://archer.ee.nctu.edu.tw/class/dsplab/07s/labs/C6711.pdf
also TI supports this KIT not anymore.
so i can't connect the DSK to my PC.

PLEASE HELP ME
