Back in
November of 2001 we have found similar
problem to what you are experiencing. Here is portion of message from one of
our engineer:
“…Windows
2000 hyperterminal "free" version shipped by microsoft has a bug that
causes file downloading to take approximately 10 times as long. Only customers
running windows 2000 will experience this problem. It does not exist on windows
95 or NT. The fix is included in Hyperterminal
PE (Professional Edition)
version 6.3 but costs $29.95 for business use. It is free for personal
use.”
My guess
WinXP has the same problem. Try professional
version of hyperterminal and see if it helps.

Hyperterminal <-> serial bootloader problem
We have come
across a problem with the serial
bootloader and / or
Hyperterminal that I hope some of you might have
experienced before.
Our board incorporates a 56807 and we use the
Motorola serial
bootloader to load flash (S-records) together with
Hyperterminal to
transmit to the target. Our lab PC (old
Pentium Pro, 150MHz) and the
laptop I use in-the-field (500MHz Celeron) both
use Win98. I have
never experienced a problem sending s-record text
files with these
machines. However, I recently tried to
update the 807 flash with
Hyperterminal running on a Dell Pentium IV (>
2GHz) running XP and we
cannot transfer the s-record text files to the
bootloader! Likewise
on an 800MHz Dell desktop running Win2000. We get
the bootloader
message, start the ASCII send and that's it...
it
just sits and sits
and does nothing. No error messages either.
After checking
Hyperterminal setup parameters for the 10th time,
we have come to the
conclusion that there must be some issue with
either the
Hyperterminal version on the later machines
(different Win OS
versions) or timing issues connected to PC speed
performance. This
is all standard stuff, so I was really blind-sided
by this problem.
Has anyone else run into this one?
