If you are running continuously, the MSP430's consumption is very
good. If you run in bursts, its rapid start and stop times make it
completely unbeatable. Other people are trying to attack this segment
now, but nothing yet has the same start and stop qualities. They
either take too long, or have clunky qualities where they basically
pop up from reset each time they awaken.

Hello DSP gurus!

For a 16bit algorithm, requiring 16 MIPS (with hardware multiplier), we 
want the LEAST power consuming DSP/MCU! Does anything beat 2 MSP430 
controllers in parallel (= 16 mW power consumption)?

For instance, if you duty cycle a 300 MHz Blackfin DSP at 5.3% (=16MIPS) 
, do you achieve a lower power consumption? I`m worried about the large 
baseline power consumption and long PLL startup times from sleep mode to 
active mode...

So what could beat the MSP430s? Any hints?
