I'm interested to know what the difference is as far as debugging
features are between the DSP56F8xx Family's JTAG/OnCE and the MC68HC12, rather HCS12's BDM (Background Debug Module). We are thinking about the HCS12 or DSP56F8xx as a platform for many of our products and we will no longer purchase processors that require an expensive ICE, IN ADDITION to speed and a expandable memory bus for memory and I/O. I do know the BDM port is of an older design, but, we would need multiple break points and instruction tracing. I believe the DSP stuff can track 6 program flow control instructions.
