To make the RS232 work on the 8300DSK, you need to add the level-translating
IC and 5 capacitors as noted in the DSK schematic on page 24 of the PDF (http://e- www.motorola.com/files/dsp/doc/user_guide/MC56F8300DBUM.pdf). The schematic references a Sipex SP3232, but the Maxim MAX3232 appears to be a pin for pin replacement.
