To make the RS232 work on the 8300DSK, you need to add the level-translating IC
and 5 capacitors as noted in the DSK schematic on page 24 of the PDF (http://e-
www.motorola.com/files/dsp/doc/user_guide/MC56F8300DBUM.pdf).

The schematic references a Sipex SP3232, but the Maxim MAX3232 appears to be a
pin for pin replacement. I've not done the modification on this board, but I
have
successfully done it on the DSP56F800DEMO board (with the Maxim part) which has
the same RS232 block as this board.

Hello,

Seems as though this board is missing the PCB-mount DB9 serial port
as well as what appears to be some RS-232 logic level shifting IC(s)
and analog parts. Also, the Timer/PWM, ADC and GPIO/SERIAL set of
connectors do not have pins.

I'm specifically interested in getting the RS-232 functionality
going, but I need to know what parts need to be soldered. Can anyone
help me out on this one?
