Hi all,

I understand that JPEG 2000 has great algorithms and
is shown to be better than the baseline JPEG, in terms
of say compression, quality, scalability etc.

But people still seem to use the usual jpg files
extensively. I dont know of JPEG2000 encoder/decoder
having been incorporated in any popular image editing
softwares.

does anyone know of any instances where JPEG 2000
files are actually being used? has anyone ever
received a forwarded email with a JPEG2000 image
attached?

the standard has been around for 5 yrs, but I haven't
yet seen it replacing JPEG anywhere in practice.
please reply if you have any comments on this.

Thanks and regards,
Sameer
