I'll give you my opinion from my experience, which involves different, but similar kind of emulators. Namely, PCI emulator (not HPPCI one, but the older version) and the USB interface on the kit, which goes directly to the JTAG pins so works (I believe) like the USB based, external, Apex emulator. I've found both to be stable, but doubtless, the PCI is faster. The great advantage of the USB based one is its portability: you can install it on a laptop! Just my opinion, I said... JaaC
