Short answer: I don't know. Since the existing system operates only
a couple of tenths of a dB from coherent reception of differentially
encoded PSK, one would think performance might suffer, or at least
that any gain would be very small.
I think that's why most people use VV (Viterbi-Viterbi) instead of
D&S, but it's been forever since I looked at D&S in any detail.

That looks pretty cool. I was wondering how it compares to or can benefit from a multisymbol differential detector for MPSK as in Divsalar and Simon, 1990.

Look up "Constant Modulus Algorithm".

Hi All,
I'm looking at FSK modulation in practical multi-path channels. What type
of equalizers are suitable for FSK ? What type of equalizers are
appropriate for other non-coherent modulation schemes ?
Highly appreciate if you could provide any relevant paper or a book.
Thanks in advance.
Dan
