We're looking to buy a new emulator. How has your experience been in using theirs? Cheers! --M

Why not get the XDS510PP emulator from GAO Engineering
(www.gaoengineering.com). The specs are the same and it costs almost half
of what Spectrum quotes.

Check it out at
http://www.gaoengineering.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=20&zenid=a9815d23e7a56c2aeeb4ac31344d80cd

Hope this helps :)

I find Spectrum's emulators very Expensive!!!

I would prefer GAO Engineering's Emulators any day. Here is their URL
www.gaoengineering.com

I agree too!! Though I can see the reason for the high price (as John
Harris comments on above).

Anyway, can you possibly carry out a full real-time DSP development w/o
emulator? I guess it is possible as long as you can develop with the
interfaces given on DSK/EZ-KIT/etc.

Here...here!

We got the emulator and the TMS320VC5509EVM evaluation module... $4000!

I've had nothing but problems trying to get the interface to consistently
power-up for the Code Composer interface. Submitting a problem report
results in a generic "there's nothing wrong... it must be your problem".
I'm connected exactly as they specify in their documentation.

I would never buy from Spectrum Digital again.

Dave

You are paying for the NRE and the (relatively) low volumes. Plus there is usually no competition. But I agree!

Does anybody else feel like they've been ripped off after shelling out two grand for one of these? Looks like $20 bucks worth of parts inside, most of which are also on DSK boards that cost $300 with IDE included! John
