In CodeWarrior 7.0 (and I'm guessing some of the previous versions as
well), there are some example projects that demonstrate DSP
algorithms, including filters. If you don't have CodeWarrior 7.0,
you can get a free copy from Metrowerks that limits your code size to
8K words. To get to the example projects,

1. Open CodeWarrior and go to File->New.
2. Select "Processor Expert Examples Stationery" and enter a
project name
3. Select TestApplications->Signal->DSP_FUNC_DFR->56858
4. Make the project (this generates the code). The default
generates C code (dfr16.c).
5. For assembly code (more optimized), select the
DFR1:DSP_Func_DFR bean. Under Properties, select yes to "use
assember files". Re-make the project. This will generate assembler
code (dfr16<xxx>.asm) for the DSP functions.

I thought that at least Motorola and TI had some of these. The only ones I
have are proprietary to my company because they take a lot of work to write

I find that going through something that works makes understanding much easier. You would need to research that just in the field of whatever you were
working on. Digital filtering is very easy to do just gets complicated if
you want to do someting sophisticated.
