The lowest cost emulator that I know of is the Spectrum Digital XDS510PP Plus for $995.00: http://www.spectrumdigital.com/cgi/catalog.cgi?show_product=701014

I would think this would be possible. The DM642 has a PCI boot mode and the DM642 EVM is a giant PCI card. However, I don't know where you'd get the Windows-side software/drivers to do this. The XDS510PP Plus I mentioned above is an inexpensive but dependable emulator. However, if during your development you'll be doing things like loading mpeg files into the SDRAM or doing large memory dumps, etc. then it will be SLOW because it's a parallel port emulator. Spectrum Digital has another emulator, the XDS510USB for $1799 which is quite a bit faster. However, Blackhawk makes a USB510 emulator (I believe for $1750) which uses USB 2.0 and is much faster than even the XDS510USB from SD. I don't know how much DSP development you do but this emulator will be re-usable across all of TI's TMS320 DSPs (i.e. C2000, C5000, C6000). Brad

Dear all,

I have two questions.

1) Could anyone recommend a low-cost JTAG emulator for PC, that would
be compatible with c6000 devices

2) Is it possible to program my DM642 evaluation board (the Spectrum
Digital model) _without_ using a JTAG emulator?

Thanks in advance.
