The XDS510PP needs +5 volts to operate. You can power it from your
target board if you have 5 volts on the target board and connect that
to the power pin on the JTAG header.
If you have 3.3 volts on the power pin of the JTAG header, you have to
plug the external power supply, the one that comes with the emulator,
in to power it. It only uses the 3.3 volts on the JTAG header power
pin to tell when the target board is powered up or not.
On the second spin of our boards, we put 5 volts on the JTAG power
pin, since we had it on the board anyway. It made life much easier.

Hi,
