O.K. ; This is nice (IMO) http://www.ecs.soton.ac.uk/publications/rj/1995-1996/comms/jmt94r/bath21.htm but is for quite a severe rayleigh fading channel. http://www.comsoc.org/comml/private/2001/jan/pdf/05comml01-alagha.pdf#search='qpsk%20data%20aided' may be more useful for you. and this almost cetainly is useful http://telin.rug.ac.be/~nnoels/full/c9.pdf#search='qpsk%20data%20aided' Best of Luck - Mike

thanx for ur tips mike.
below is the operating conditions:
-Eb/No = 0dB
-QPSK modulation
-Frequency uncertainty of 0.3% of symbol rate
-Phase noise: 45dBc @ 100Hz using the 1/f model

Hi Elbib - yes , there are a lot. If you can give an idea about the range of symbol energy to noise power density ratios you want to work at. Your restrictions on delay. What modulation you are working with and your frequency uncertainty expressed as a fraction of your symbol rate then you have a good chance that someone will be able to give some useful pointers. I note that you have been looking at phase noise modelling recently so if you can give an idea of how much integrated phase noise is over your signal bandwidth that might help too. Any information such as 'this is a TDM stream' , ' I get problems with hang-up ' can only help. Best of Luck - Mike

i m currently on a project that requires me to do symbol to symbol phase
estimation. was using the non data aided viterbi&viterbi algorithm
unfortunately i wasnt able to meet the specs of the project.

was wondering if there is any data aided algorithm via pilots that is able
to achieve enhanced performance?

cheers
