Hello Ming,
Welcome to the world of DSP!!
The following is what I think to be true [based on experience and TI
documentation]...
DSK [DSP Starter Kit]
Normally a low priced, complete package. This means board, power
supply, emulator, assembler, compiler, examples and documentation. When
you buy a DSK, you are ready to start developing. The usual analog
circuitry is audio.
EVM [EValuation Module] - Targeted to engineers to evaluate a DSP prior to
purchase or to begin software development before custom hardware is
available.
Normally higher priced, usually higher performance, sometimes contains
circuitry for special applications - video, communications, etc. [You usually
get 'more hardware'].
Normally requires an external emulator.
May or may not include CCS - I have seen them packaged both ways. [I
don't know about DM642].
The comparison is your case is two fold - EVM vs. DSK and 6713 vs
DM642.
I would suggest the 6713 DSK - it is my opinion that you are the the type
of person [new to DSP], for which it was designed.

I plan to learn DSP on my own, can you guys
advise on the tools that I need. There are two range of development
platform offer by TI, which is:-
1. TMS320C6713 DSK ( Starter Kit
) 2. DM642 Evalution Module
Question : 1. Is there any
compiler include in the EVM? 2. What is the limitation for the DSK (
Starter Kit ) compare to EVM? 3. What books that I need to get start with
it?regards, Ming_____________________________________ Note: If you do
