The best I can recall it was ADSP-2184L (I have never seen a 218xM problem) I was writing to a PLD with relatively long lines using the WR line. This caused a Flag to fail on the other side of the DSP. The solution was a small series R in the Write line (or a 10pF termination at the PLD). Any part can have a problem. This is almost always due to layout or design flaws and not the chip. If you can be more specific, I may have better ideas.
