Hi,
As far as I know, the noise level is packed with 5
bits, and also the G.729 with annexe B recomends this
which is widely used in tele conferencing.

Also there are differences in the implementation of
SID between speech codecs. =====

hi all, i'm implementing VAD/CNG/DTX algorithm and have problems with SID
bitstream, in Comfort Noise payload draft-ietf-avt-rtp-cn-05.txt and in ITU-T
Recomendationg.729 annex B is said , that noise level should be packed in 5
bits, but in Comfort Noise payload draft-ietf-avt-rtp-cn-05.txt is said that
noise level should be packed in 7 bits. I don't know which document should the
implementation be based. and one more question - is there differences between
SID bitstream using different speech codecs(g.711,g.723,g.726,g.729).
Thanks in advance,
