I just timed a simulator session (SHARC 21161N, VDSP++ 3.5, ) on my PC
(P4 2.4GHz, 512MBRAM), doing some FFTs for 575045 cycles in 14 secs. It
seems it is only a bit faster (41075 SHARC cycles / second) than your
setup.

Hi all,

I am currently using the simulator of the evaluation version of
VisualDSP 4.0 to test run my program. The processor I plan to use is
BF536 and I've got pretty much everything working as it should, but I
am having problems with simulator execution speed. On a P4 2.8 GHz
system i usually get an average of 30,000 Blackfin cycles in one second
of simulation on the PC, no additional debug windows are open (my
program takes approx 250,000,000 cycles to complete so the entire
simualtion takes more than 2 hours). Now I'm just wondering is this
simulator speed normal in VisualDSP 4.0, or is it perhaps a limitation
of the evaluation version or something else? Maybe I'm doing something
wrong? The evaluation kit, JTAG and the VisualDSP license are ordered,
but since their delivery takes 3-4 weeks or even more I have to use the
simulator of the evaluation version until then.

Best regards,
