The MPSD/JTAG didn't work. I purchased a XDS510PP Plus (spectrum digital) from ebay, other then crashing alot, it all works pretty well. I have gotten past alot of my issues. Thank you all for your help.

I am wondering what are the most up to date development tools for the

Thanks for the software, I will try it out if what im working on does not work out.

I received the emulator today.

It is a Parallel port XDS510 TMDS3080002 made by Texas Instruments

It came with a manual: JTAG/MPSD Emulation.

Will this work with the VC33 as reading about spectrum digitals version; they make a unique version for for each chip (C30/31/32 MPSD)
and a ( VC33 JTAG) model?

Hi Daniel,

When I started to work with vc33 I had a lot of issues too that I have
solved by being in touch with spectrum digital.

I have developed image processing solutions on vc33 using code composer
studio running on windows xp.

list below the tools i use:

tms320vc33 dsk
code composer studio 4.10.37
usb port xds510

I use a specific software (patchs, drives, etc.) installation secuence
needed. it works for me.
== 1-Install Code Composer C3X/C4X
2-Install service pack 2 (trabaja en 2000/xp)

sprc153.zip

3-Install from spectrum digital

*driver 1.30
*driver 1.31
*update vc33

4-Restart the pc
5-Configure Code Composer setup
6-Instalar driver sdgovc3xusb.dvr

==
*software is uploaded in
https://docs.google.com/leaf?id_f9f9UdczhKNmY5M2E5ZmMtZTkwMS00NjY0LWJkYzMtZTI3NzI5MTNkZWU1&hl=en
.

Please let me know if this worked for you.

Thanks Bill for your message.

Yeah if you enable it (memory mapping to external memory), and go on to simulate it will instantly crash.

I found a XDS510 on ebay used this morning and picked it up. It seems to have a parallel port pictured unlike all the newer XDS510s with USB so hopefully it works.

Do you remember how you programmed your chip? We are going to JTAG to an xilinx rom and load my program onto it for serial bootload. Is this what you did if you recall?

Thanks again.

Daniel,

I don't have much advice, other than to commiserate with your pain. CCS
does not work with the VC33. TI has abandoned the VC33, and so at my
company we abandoned it also. Instead TI now encourages the much more
complex and power hungry 6000 series DSP.

That said, I did develop several prototypes using Code Composer 4 and
the XDS510 PP+ emulator, so you should be ok once you get it in house.

I never used the simulator for the VC33, but won't it simulate external
memory if you set the memory map correctly?

Good luck,
Bill

I am wondering what are the most up to date development tools for the

TMS320VC33 chip.

I have Code Composer 4.10.37 (not Studio)
I have the TMS320VC33 DSK
I have a Parallel port XDS510 (used, in the mail on the way).

I cannot load most programs through the DSK software (crashes) so have been using the code composer simulator, which is at its end of life because I need to use external memory which it doesn't seem to support.

Is there a version of Code composer studio that will work with this old chip?

The hardware is just about done for a first run of a demo board so we can get it debugged and working. And I don't feel very comfortable with my tools.

Are there any other tools any of you can recommend? Thank you.
