Leaf, Use "noise cancellation." Adobe's "Audition," a tool for audio processing, has a noise canceller. Randy, Thanks for your/others comments, based on what you have said i understand that its impossible to clean noise by using DSM as a software tool. therefore what would you suggest to clean noise from a poorly recorded voice on pc ? (a bit like digital remastering) Thanks Leaf

As others have stated, this is not feasible. The reason is this: the
key to a delta sigma modulator is a feedback loop in which the
quantized signal (noise signal) can be compared to the non-noise
signal. In your scenario you don't have the non-noise signal to
build a loop around.

Is there some rule that allows you to distinguish noise from clean signal? You can't separate them if you can't distinguish them. You can recognize quantization noise because you just made it yourself. We all know that DSM is good because it's abaility to push Q noise to
higher frequency band.

My question is does DSM only work for Q noise?

What about if the data already corrupted by noise? therefore would DSM
work if the noise is the combination of background and quantization
noise.?

I have done some matlab coding(first order) on it and it works a bit
but i dont know if it's because of the lowpass filter or the DSM.

My project is trying to apply the DSM to clean noise of a corrupted
voice file.
Any Help will be great~!!!!
