The TLV320AIC23B is just an audio codec. You need a processor to do anything with it. Alex: Isn't the AIC23 an audio codec? It uses filtering because of internal oversampling, but can it be considered as an audio processing chip? Regards, JaaC

A Philips LPC21xx ARM will give you about 60 MIPS and low-power. They have some DSP instructions like MAC. Leon

What sort of processing do you want to do ? What about a codec chip ? Some have a limited range of simple digital filters. Something like TI TLV320AIC23B http://www-s.ti.com/sc/ds/tlv320aic23b.pdf Need to control / set them up from a micro. Alex

It depends on what kind of processing are you planning to do. From the general purpose DSPs you can use ADI BlackFin or TI TMS55xx. If you are looking for the particular features (equalization and such), the specialized ICs like TAS3103 are the way to go.
