There are plenty of practical references out there for this sort of
thing. For an engineering approach, see Burrus et al.'s _Introduction
to Wavelets and Wavelets Transforms_, and for a more mathematical
approach from the guy who made it practical for engineering use in the
first place, see Mallat's _A Wavelet Tour of Signal Processing_ (2nd
ed.). Also consider Wavelab (http://www-stat.stanford.edu/~wavelab) for
your research instead of the Wavelet toolbox.

Hi All,
I am doing my thesis.I have to develope some algorithms for audio
analysis.
Actually,I have to record audio from mobile phone, and I have to test
the audio for glitches, hiss, delay, distortion etc.We have selected
wavelets for analysis because of resolution in time and frequency.I am
using Matlab Wavelet toolbox for development.
But,I am not sure ,how to use wavelets for this purpose.I have read
some basics about Wavelet, but how to select mother wavelet and other
parameters for wavelets?
And how to use wavelet toolbox for this purpose?
Please, would anybody give me some references or some idea about these
things?
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
