I know that this sounds illogical, but check your
power supply voltage coming into the board [+5v]. I
have seen this cause problems on *some* boards [and
work on others].
This may be 'sort of' good news. Your interface is
not 'totally toast'. The 'SMC chip' appears to have
initialized correctly. From the error message it
looks like a reset was taking place and the results
were incorrect. I believe that this message refers to
the SMC34C60 pin 43 [PPC_TBC_RST] not toggling.
