Hi, aleen,

As I know, there is no mapping such as SNR range : BER in WiMax,
because
the standard use AMC. (But, there is a similar AMC table including
modulation scheme, code rate, etc)
In AMC, if we got low SNR, we use more reliable mode but having low
code rate
to achieve a reasonalbe error rate(PER 0.1 ~ 0.01%). Otherwise(good
SNR),
16QAM or 64QAM can be used to send much more in given time. In this
case, we also will get 0.1 ~ 0.01 PER. (Here, PER is PDU error rate)

See this: Jamshid Khun-Jush, et al, "Structure and Performance of the
HIPERLAN/2 Physical layer," 1999

Even though this article is related with HIPERLAN/2 PHY, but it will
give you some information about AMC, especially how AMC decide which
mode is proper according to SNR fed back from the receiver.

Regards,

DIFF

Thanks particlereddy,

I found these value but I would like to make a correspondance between SNR
and BER using curve. Is there any fixed value for BER for the SNR ? and
can I consider wimax mobile just like wimax fix as the same thing in this
issue ?

thanks,
ashlie

PS: I saw your answer only this day, as I do not know how to follow my
mail in this mailing list

hi aleen,
regarding this the best what you can do is you refer to
802.16E (mobile wimax) standard, there exists already a table of such
sort in that standard. if you dont find there, you can find it there at
(802.16-2004) standard or fixed wimax standard (802.16-2004's other
name).
Regarding BER, " there is compliance based limit that BER should be
this much "

Hi all,

I am new in WiMax and I intend to construct the table of modulation, SNR
and BER..
does anybody know how can I do it and by which equation ? I mean the table
can be like the following:

SNR modulation type data rate BER
--- --------------- -------- ----

thanks for any help,
Ashlie
