The 6x01 EVM is tricky to install. In some PCs it wont work at all . If you
contact TI support they have a documment that gives some hints.
Also the EVM have problems with certain 3com ethernet cards and some graphic
cards. If possible try a different PC.
Check your BIOS settings, especially the "Plug and Play OS" one. Try
_both_
settings (yes and no). Win98 is supposed to be a plug and play os and hence
"yes" should be appropriate but I recently installed a EVM card in a
PC with
win2000 and it wouldnt work unless I set plug and play os : no.
The driver for the EVM card is very old and I belive it has PCI compatibilty
issues.
