dunno what's possible without a clear definition of terms. what do you mean by an "Acoustic Event"? r b-j

Hello,

I'm running a project related to psychoacoustic and I want to be able to
Increase/Decrease the number of Acoustic Event (acoustic emission) of
crack sounds in Real Time (for an acoustic wave in the time domain, the
signal crosses a preset threshold a certain number of times. To calculate
the number of acoustic event you'll just have to count the number of peaks
that are above this preset threshold).

I want to apply this effect in Real-Time, on audio input and play back the
modified sound to subject ear, without affecting the original sound
(duration), the pitch, the timbre and the loudness.

Delay between original sound and the modified one has to be imperceptible
to subject. That's why I need to perform effects in real-time.

Is there any effect available that I could use for my application?
What is the maximum delay tolerable, between original sound and modified
feed back, I can have in such way that the delay is imperceptible to
subject (normal human being)?
Is it even possible?

Thank you in advance for help.
