The principle of the operation of G.729 is identical to many other MPLPC coders, such as G.723.1, GSM 6.60, QCELP and such. There is some difference in fine details, but no more than that. If you are interested how this stuff works the good book is "Low bitrate speech coding" by Kondoz.

Hello.

I am looking for aditional information about the CS-ACELP G.729 Codec.
I have download the recomendation documentation from ITU-T web site,
and that's a start. However, my knowleadge at digital
telecommunications system is limited, and for that I am having trouble
on figuring out how this codec works just with this recomendation
file. I have also reached some telecomunications books, but they only
have limited information about this codec, if any at all. I have found
an article that I believe would help me a lot, but unfortunelly it's
located at IEEE website, and I don't own an account to download it.

So, if anyone can point me at the right direction on the best way to
fully understand the operation of this codec, or have any kind of
resource especifically about the G.729 codec, please help me. I will
leave here the link of the paper that I found at the IEEE website. If
anyone can provide me with that paper, it would be also great. Thank
you.
