#1: Depends on - how many microphones are you goin' to use simultaenously - which resolution (bit-depth/samplerate) you need to have there? - do you need really HQ preamps for microphones - do you need HQ ADC - etc. There are many kind of setups you can choose from. extarnal mic-pre box + soundcard (pre->soundcard through ADAT or analog I/O) host card + I/O module Firewire audio interface w/ multiple mic-preamps You could check these manufacturers ESI (maybe MaXiO XD system), Focusrite (Firepod/Firestation), Mackie, MOTU (maybe the new low-budged 8pre), RME (FF400/800) etc. #2: - question missing #3: - by using matched/calibrated HQ microphones the data is closest w/ the others (IIRC, there are some software for to emulate other microphones (Microphone Modeller) but I don't know if those are quality products) which could be used for 'calibration' if you have diferent model microphones in use. !! NOTE: do not go this path if not as a must) - I don't know MatLab so, I can't comment how everything is done in there. Maybe you can select the input source there for each channel separately by inserting separate input object for every channel (this is needed only if you don't want data from all microphones become mixed automatically). Most of those mentioned audio interfaces do have a mixer applet where you can route signals quite freely if needed. jtp _____________________________________ Do you know a company who employs DSP engineers? I have questions regarding sound card for data acquisition from multiple
microphone simultaneously.

1)Which sound card is better to get data from these multiple microphones.

3)how do i get same sound data from multiple microphones into matlab
workspace using matlab sound acquisition tool box

Thanks
Sylvia
