Yes. No other group. Something as simple as "what's decimation" he/she should take 60 seconds to look on the web or in a book. For questions about the details, this group would be appropriate. Dirk

Definitely not, because everybody does not know of an example or the definition. -- % Randy Yates % "Midnight, on the water... %% Fuquay-Varina, NC % I saw... the ocean's daughter." %%% 919-577-9882 % 'Can't Get It Out Of My Head' %%%% <yates@ieee.org> % *El Dorado*, Electric Light Orchestra http://home.earthlink.net/~yatescr

Unless he's asking about ancient Roman practices to subjugate the populaces of newly assimilated areas, I think this is as close to the right group as you'll find -- do you have a better suggestion? -- Tim Wescott Wescott Design Services http://www.wescottdesign.com Do you need to implement control loops in software? At it's simplest decimation is just selecting every Nth data point to keep, and throwing away the rest. It's a form of sampling, so you usually have to precede your decimation step by some sort of anti-alias filtering, although sometimes you'll get lucky. -- Tim Wescott Wescott Design Services http://www.wescottdesign.com Do you need to implement control loops in software?
