This is one of my favorites: A hunter goes through the forest and suddenly falls down into the bear's den. A bear grabs the hunter: "Ha Ha Ha! I will eat you up now!" Hunter: "Please don't! Don't eat me! I... I will suck your dick." Bear: "Okay. Do it." Next morning the hunter makes the ambush near the den. The bear comes out. Gunshot! Bang! Bang! Missed. The bear grabs the hunter again. Hunter: "Hi Bear. Would you like to fuck me at this time?" ..... Day after the well prepared hunter bravely jumps into the bear's den, puts the gun to bear's head and pulls the trigger. Click! Misfire. Bear: "There is one thing that I can't understand. Are you a real hunter or you just love gettin' fucked?" //=========================================== In the real life, there are not too many hunters. There are many more of those who are out for something different :))))) VLV

Well then, here's another. A bit longer and somewhat later in the game: On their way to get married, a young Catholic couple was involved in a fatal car accident. The couple found themselves sitting outside the Pearly Gates waiting for St. Peter to process them into Heaven. While waiting they began to wonder; Could they possibly get married in Heaven? When St. Peter arrived they asked him if they could get married in heaven. St. Peter said, "I don't know. This is the first time anyone has asked. Let me go find out," and he left. The couple sat and waited for an answer... for a couple of months. While they waited, they discussed the pros and cons. If they were allowed to get married in Heaven, should they get married, what with the eternal aspect of it all? "What if it doesn't work? Are we stuck in Heaven together forever?" Another month passed. St. Peter finally returned, looking somewhat bedraggled. "Yes," he informed the couple, "You can get married in Heaven." "Great!" said the couple "But we were just wondering; what if things don't work out? Could we also get a divorce in Heaven?" St. Peter, red-faced with anger, slammed his clipboard on the ground. "What's wrong?" asked the frightened couple. "OH, COME ON!!!" St. Peter shouted. "It took me 3 months to find a priest up here! Do you have ANY idea how long it'll take to find a lawyer???" Well for the moment this is just for fun, i have some old circuits with capacitor switched filters (MF10 anno 1984) that i want to replace by some more hightech stuff. Maybe i need to look ar some FLASH devices from TI (TMS320F28xx) they seem to be fairly cheap. I downloaded some tutorials and am playing with some FIR implemented on my host pc (samples come from the line in output, the result back to the wave out ) This can learn me some practical things. Found some code on http://www.codeproject.com/cs/media/cswavrec.asp

It depends.
>> -I plan to use it mainly for audio filtering
Then the obvious choice is the specialized audio processor. All major semiconductor vendors do have that.
>> -My projects are always low volume custom solutions (<100)
Then the learning curve is not likely to pay off. Hire the consultant.
>> What would be my best choice to get me started ?
Get a ABC book on DSP. "A scientist and engineer guide to DSP" or "Undestanding DSP" by Rick Lyons.
>> I am familiar writing code for ARM7 / 8051 and some small CPLD"s , >>now i want to expand my fields to DSP's
Try doing DSP on ARM7. That will give you an idea.
>> VisualDSP versus codecomposer,
Doesn't matter. blackfin versus tms320c6713 ? Different CPUs for different tasks.
> What is the best choice for a slash based DSP ?
Slice a dual core CPU into two? VLV

A young guy and young girl came to the rabbi to ask for his advice. A girl: "Tomorrow is my first night with my fiance. What kind of night dress should I put on? Should it be a long dress, or a short dress, or an open dress, or a closed dress, or whatever?" A boy: "I got some money. Will you please give me an advice what to do with it: maybe, invest into something, or buy some real estate, or gold, or put it in a bank?" The rabbi: "My dear children, I have one answer for both of you: whatever you do, you will certainly be fucked." Vladimir Vassilevsky DSP and Mixed Signal Design Consultant http://www.abvolt.com

What is the best choice for a slash based DSP ?

Hi

-I guess i beter select a floating point device.
-I plan to use it mainly for audio filtering
-My projects are always low volume custom solutions (<100)

What would be my best choice to get me started ?

 I am familiar writing code for ARM7 / 8051 and some small CPLD"s ,
now i want to expand my fields to DSP's

VisualDSP versus codecomposer, blackfin versus tms320c6713 ?

 Any suggestions welcome

 Regards Johan
