Neither is unusual around the northern central plains states,
especially in the norhoovian (aka Scandinavian) areas, which are
plentiful in Minnesota and North and South Dakota. It often comes out
"Yep", too.
I'm assuming I picked it up in childhood, but since I was half
military brat and lived way too many places by the time I was in high
school, there's no accounting for a lot of stuff I say. ;)

I am usually only lurking in english but active in german newsgroups:
there people using funny pseudonyms are politely reminded to use

I don't know Eric. It seems to me like he didn't get his ass whooped
often enough (or at all) when he was a youngster, and that could happen
here (in the USA - I know Eric and where he lives) or in any other country.
