The usage of term "vaccum cleaner" is more of a reference to a retail
product which can blow as well as suck(sic). It is common sense that
electronic boards with narrow crevaces and myriad soldering have to be
blow cleaned using compressed air.

Swapnali and others,

Any 'A+ course (basic computer info) will tell you to use compressed air, not a vacuum.

Swapnali-

After that long, it would not be a bad idea to open up the box, clean it with a
blower (Richard's suggestion), and check for any cards, peripherals or cables that
could have come loose during storage and handling.

You might have to open it anyway if there are jumper options on the PCI emulator
card.

Sounds common sense to me.

You (typed and removed "almost") had me till this point! :-)

NO! Don't! Then you will have a polyphasic, correlative airflow mismatch. Plus the capacitive field of the JTAG
electrons will be permanently shaped in the direction of maximum vacuum sucking pressure.

Just kidding ;-) Of course you can vacuum the card! But seriously I would suggest that you keep the emulator card
plugged into the PC and the PC plugged into the wall (but turned off) so it's well grounded there's no chance of ESD
between you and the card or the vacuum cleaner and the card.

Nice that I got to this one first, haha.

Hello All,
We have PCI Emulator in our company. As it is a PIC emulator it is inside CPU, and that CPU is not opened ,cleaned since last 2.5 years. Till now it must have got lotz of dust inside.
Will this create any problem in future. If I want to clean the emulator, what kind of precautionary steps should be followed.
