Hi Francis,

do you have the socketed version of the 2812 board? We recently
encountered a similar problem which was caused by the DSP socket. After
opening and re-tightening the socket the board worked again.

SdConfig only checks the JTAG path of the board. As long as the power
supply and the JTAG connections are ok, the SdConfig tests will pass. Code
Composer however requires all functions of the DSP to work properly. In a
worst case you probably may have damaged the DSP by an ESD event (the
expansion headers directly connect to the DSP pins).

Best Regards,

Good day everybody!

I don't actually have a C6x chip but I do have another TI chip, a C28x.
But I decided anyway to send my inquiry here since I believe that my
problem isn't chip-specific.

I've encountered some problems when using my TMS320F2812
(spectrum digital) board.

Here's what happened:

I just got this DSP board last week. Before soldering any pin headers to
the board, I got to play with it for a while, coding and downloading
some simple programs with CCS to see if its working. (I've soldered
pin headers to ports 4,7,8 and 9)

After seeing that the board is good, I've finally decided to solder
the pinheaders to the board.

Now here is where my problem starts.

Code Composer Studio now won't start and displays the following error
message:

"Failed Software Reset
Processor reset or no power to target I/Os"

I tried to do some tests using the SDConfig program and the tests
indicated no errors. The SDConfig program still can communicate with
the board and reset the board. I've also re-configured the board using
the CCSetup utility but to no avail.

I've even removed the pin headers altogether but the problems is still
present. It seems that something is keeping the DSP in reset position but
I don't know where to start looking. The DSP board that I have has no
physical "reset button".

i've checked the basic signal logic levels in the board and they were
consistent with the settings indicated in the board datasheet. could it
also be a soldering issue? should I use a specific type of a soldering
iron when working with these boards?

any ideas would be highly appreciated

in any case, Big thanks!
