You might try searching on the spatially variant apodization (SVA) term used in your citation. There is literature on it. Another approach is to simply apply multiple windows and take the outputs from the windowed data having the least magnitude at each bin. You may or may not consider this 'adaptive'. It is computationally straightforward, has predictable processing cost, and the performance envelope can be calculated from the selected windows. Dale B. Dalrymple http://dbdimages.com
