Alternatives to ADZS-HPUSB-ICE?

Started by "Wachob, Chip" August 30, 2010
Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone out there has knowledge of a
USB-based ICE for the 21469 family that is less costly
than the ADZS-HPUSB-ICE. I'm not certain if the slower
USB device would work in our situation or not, but even
the cost of that unit is pretty steep with respect to our
budget.

Thank you,

There is also the ADI USB-ICE (full speed version).

It is slow when single stepping, but it is much less
expensive the the HPUSB-ICE.

The other alternative is the ADI Debug Agent. This is a
dedicated on board ICE that is not general purpose. It is
the debugger used on EZ-KITs and third party OEM boards like
Danville Signal's dspblok family. The advantage of the Debug
Agent is that it is very inexpensive and does not require a
full Visual DSP++ license to operate. A free KIT license can
be used (program size is restricted). The performance is
similar to the USB ICE.

I do not know of a non-ADI ICE alternative for the third or
4th generation SHARCs.

Hello Wachob
i use USB based ICE for 21469. It is cool and it is good and it works well. In the case of speed it is not very bad compared ADZS-HPUSB-ICE. In fact USB ICE is stable and it is easy to use..
Kind Regards

Hi,
I've been using both, USB-ICE and HPUSB-ICE and once you have tried the
faster, you don't want to see the other any more. Anyway it is, in fact,
quite expensive so I've been looking for some "ADI-like" JTAG emulator. I've
found this (http://www.quickembed.com/Tools/Shop/DSP/201007/119.html) but I
haven't tried it yet. Have any of you tried them? Have any of you heard
about them?.

Regards,
Daniel.
