Image processing methods testing using MATLAB

Is MATLAB the only good program available for image processing?

ARe there any other programs that are just as good but also possibly cheaper?

Try the open source version of Matlab:

http://www.gnu.org/software/octave/

There are some minor differences, but most Matlab m files will run in Octave without modification. I am unsure if they have a full-featured image processing package. Start a New Thread
