AUDIO jitter

Started by qbq7...@yahoo.com.cn June 12, 2009
I've read some document about jitter. But there is a problem, how does it effect the performance of audio dac ? In my application , I need to generate mclks for audio dac , But I could not know whether the clock is clean enough, Is there any menthod can evaluate it ?

Thanks !
Hi,
yes you can find out jitter in indirect way.
it could be serious problem if you are capturing the audio in realtime and wantd renderer it. you could end up having buffer overrun or underrun.
But if you trying to renderer from the stored media then you are concern isclock generation. you can find out from source clock tolerance i.e crytal or clock generator it is mention in PPM.
other way is to play pure 1khz sine wave(-dBFs) and mearue using the audio precision and find out deviation in frequency and new hamonics.Uou need consider perfomance of DAC from data sheet before making any conlcusion.
hope this helps

With regards
Amaresh
