Dear group I have a C5402 DSK that runs well on the older PCs (Win98 platform) in the lab, but refuses to work with two new 2 GHz Intel machines (Intel motherboard and processor). I have tried all the obvious things (port address, port mode, etc). I have tried the board both with TI parallel emulator and Spectrum Digital XDS510PP and XDS510PP_Plus JTAG emulators. The boards (I have tried 3 different ones) work on older PCs, but not the two new machines. Have anyone had any similar problems. TI support is in the dark re this problem. I have even bought a PCI card with parallel port, but to no avail either. Jean Viljoen Development Engineer Azoteq (Pty) Ltd Tel: +27 21 863 0033 Fax: +27 21 863 1512 |

A Xilinx or Altera programming pod, or something that basically tests the port? The fact that your LPT2 add-in card won't work is very suspicious -- it needs to be tested with something else first. -Jeff |

Jean, In Win98 any software may access the LPT port directly, but if you are now running NT, 2000 or XP you need to install special LPT drivers for the XDS510PP that (most likely) came with the emulator. Make sure you have the administrator rights to your PC before you try to install them. If you have done that already and it still doesn't work, contact the manufacturer (Spectrum Digital) for help.
