Hello all! I have just migrated to Texas technology, and acquired a C5510 DSK. Reading its help, I found this: The version of Code Composer Studio that comes with the DSK is tailored specifically for use with the DSK in that: 1) It only works with the DSK board itself. Full versions of CCS are not board specific in that they can be used with any hardware (including hardware you develop yourself). I wish I am wrong, but.. does it mean that when I am building my own HW, I m gonna have to purchase full CCS for U$2k ???? Is that a trick? Is there a possibility to use CCS that comes with DSK to make my commercial code? Thanks in advance, Kruk |

Your understanding of it is correct, to develop code on your own hardware you will need a full version of Code Composer Studio and a suitable JTAG emulator. Not really a trick, just try and think of the DSK package as a bargain rather than the other way around ;-) Kevin Howson Kane Computing Ltd |

Min price for full version -- unless you know of a good deal there in Brazil we can't get here :-) For your commercial product, you can still use your DSK version to develop run-time code, but you cannot use JTAG/debugger. So you would need another way to debug on your target hardware, maybe use HPI or McBSP or some way to talk to small code in your project that can insert sw breakpoints, transfer data and register values, jump to a new prog address, etc Jeff Brower system engineer Signalogic |

Thanks for your answer! You are completely right about CCS's price. I have written just something reasonable, but this price is insane!! Specially for me. I dont work for a big company, nor have lots of funds, and pay 78% for importing taxes over price given by Texas when I order something... So, you must be glad you can pay only U$3.2k. :o( I appreciate a lot your tips. I will test all algorithms in the DSK, as much as my applications allow, and use your suggestion of setting "breakpoints" in the code to check how it goes. Again, thanks! Hi Kruk, For third party software options just scan thorugh third party tools options. Link is there in the TI site. People do provide JTAG emulators, custom RTOS etc for the custom board development. Hope this will help u. Just scan thorugh many OS companies( vxworks, OSE, linux..). Cross check if they tailered there OS for TI core Regards Gagan --- Luciano Kruk <> wrote: > Hello Gagan! > > Thanks a lot for these lights! Which OS options do I > have? Hi Gagan!
If I can ask, how do you work? Seems that you dont use full CCS
(?n)either.

Hello Kruk and community, I am facing the same problem you experienced, (namely the cost of the emulator and CCS). Were you able to get around the cost somehow? I actually just need a convenient way to reprogram flash on a custom board, and dont need the full debug features provided by the emulator and CCS. I am developing a dual channel wireless headset for the Blind Association of WA, and they simply dont have the funds for an emulator and CCS. :-( Any help would be greatly appreciated, Andrew Pasquale --- In , Luciano Kruk <kruk_tech@y...> wrote: > Hi Gagan! > > If I can ask, how do you work? Hi all,.. Before you go for a stand alone board read CAREFULLY the 100 pages of the errata of the 5509. You will find crazy and amazing answers to you problems. Please, also consider that CLKOUT pin it is out of cotntrol when not using the JTAG emulator, so if you are dividing down the clock for your periphery you will have problems. marko ----- Original Message ----- From: andrewpasquale To: Sent: Friday, July 25, 2003 3:44 AM Subject: [c55x] Re: CCS manual... hardware development without emulotor Hello Kruk and community, I am facing the same problem you experienced, (namely the cost of the emulator and CCS).
