villan,

the TMS is one of several prefixes that TI uses.
It means the product is in production.
You can visit the TI web site and read all about the various prefixes that TI uses.

Tesax Manufactured Semiconductors is the most commonly used expansion.

Richard is correct as those of us who have worked with bleeding edge TMX
devices are aware.
Don't fall for the 'folklore interpretations'. I would suggest only working
with 'TMS' devices, which is the only thing that you see in distribution
channels.

Also, this designation mostly applies to DSP, ARM, and OMAP devices.

Few years back I jotted this down from a training session I attended at TI.
Not sure if this is a TI document though. Reproduced below is the
nomeclature for just 2 of the salient parts of a TI DSP product name. Iam
sure the nomenclatured exploded further in the last few years with newer DSP
devices and newer memory memory technologies.

As for as i know TMS stands for Texas manufacturing services, C stands for CMOS technology, 67 is processor family 13 stands for number of cycles it takes for MAC.

just to give a TI link for explaining the same thing what Bhooshan
explained..

http://www-k.ext.ti.com/srvs/cgi-bin/webcgi.exe?Company={5761bcd8-11f5-4e08-84e0-8167176a4ed9},kb=dsp,case(874,new

or if you want more info..may be download Silicon Errata of some chip
like DM6446 and read in that...they have documentation of that..i
guess pdf number "sprz241k.pdf"

All,

Here is a url to a web page in the TI knowledge base, that breaks down the nomenclature for the DSP
devices.
Note the 'C' is now used to indicate the production mask rev. level, not CMOS
