Hi.
Recently, I had to reformat my hard drive and re install the operating system.
When I re installed CCS 3.3 (the latest build) along with the code generation
tools, I started having problems.
The main problem, I believe, is that the code generation tools I installed are
not being used by CCS. I can recall seeing each called by the IDE as it built my
programs but now I only see the local C6000 tools being called.
And then of course, projects that used to build flawlessly come up with bogus
errors like: ".obj/" directory not found. This is a linker error and it says
that my .CMD file is responsible but I can't find anything in that file
that asks for anything in such a directory. This on a project that has not
changed at all and always built without a hitch.
When I installed the code generation tools, I downloaded a new zip, ran it and
then ran the registry scripts included this is all I can recall doing before but
it is obvious that I am either doing something wrong or leaving something
out.
I did a search of the TI web site but found no (or missed any) special
instructions for installing these tools. I also entered an SR but have received
no reply and it has been over a week.
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?
Thanks.

Did you get a 'incident/bug number'??
You might try-
If yes, send a note to s...@ti.com with it in the subject field.
If no, do a 'reply all' to your sent message so that the subject reads
'RE: ...'.
>
> Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?
I am not sure. Have you gone to Help->About->Component Manager in CCS??
This will show all of the versions of codegen tools [and other stuff]
that CCS knows about. If there are multiple versions, it will allow
you to pick the one that you want with a check box.

don morgan,
It sounds to me, from your description, like the 'project' is not fully re-created.
Things like the .obj directory are created with the project, including the many
project details in the 'Build Options', some of which are which directories are
to be accessed for header files, source files, library files, object files, etc.
Also, when setting up CCS, which specific tool set/processor did you select?
It is very important to select the correct tool set and processor.

I am going to take still another look today. The project directory- in
fact, the entire CCS directory (including libraries, includes, etc)
were copied from the back up drive.
The selected tools are for the 6727 and the bios selections (though I
am not using them in this project) are the same as well.
If I can't see it, I am going to try to install on another computer to
see whether I have just screwed something up.
What bewilders me is that before the hard drive crash, whenever I was
compiling a project, I could see that the code generation tools in the
program files directory were being called and not they are not. It is
just the local default tools in the C6000 CCS directory that are
called and I can't seem to find a way to get the newer code generation
tools involved.
If I could do that, I believe that I would be much closer to a solution.
Thanks for your thoughts, I will go over everything again.

Don Morgan,
the act of creating a project puts entries into the system registry.
So you cannot just copy the directories.
I would suggest rebuilding the project from scratch.
Your source files do not need to be re-created, just the pointer(s) to them in
the project.
Your .cmd file does not need to be re-created, just the pointer in the project.
Those pointers are re-created by the act of adding the files to the project.

the act of creating a project puts entries into the system registry.

Ok. I still get the error:
[Linking...] "C:\CCStudio_v3.3\C6000\cgtools\bin\cl6x" -@"Debug.lkf"
>> Lnk-sdram.cmd: error: system error, can't open file '/.obj' for input: No
such file or directory
You will notice it is not using the code generation tools in program files and it is looking for a directory I never intended it to look for.
I realize this is something I am doing and thank you for your help.

don morgan,
first question..
Does the source files compile or does it jump directly to the link operation?
If the source files compile, then (normally) the resulting .obj files are placed
in a sub directory under the project directory with a name of /obj
second question..
does the /obj subdirectory now exist?
third question..
Are the object files anywhere on your hard disk?
forth question..
are the object files in the expected location, I.E. the /obj directory?
fifth question..
are the 'build options' setup to direct the compiler to place the .obj files in
the /obj subdirectory?
sixth question..
are the 'build options' setup to direct the linker to place the .out file in the
/out subdirectory?

first question..
