hi i have a 6201 BGA device connected wih lot of problems to the pcb.now i want to check if all of its pins realy connected or not, i have an XDS510 jtag emulator and i heard that it is possible to check the pins with that, do i need a special soft ware or code composer can do it for me? thanks yasser Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger! In theory a JTAG device can perform boundary scan which is what you want to test the pins. But the XDS510 does not have any software that will perform this function. I once tried to get info from TI on how to use this board for boundary scan since the connector was already on the board and I already had the XDS510. But they wanted $10,000 just to give me the info I would need to write my own debugger and that would not even be enough info to write a boundary scan driver. But I did find a fairly low cost provider, under $1000. http://www.ricreations.com/JTAG-Software-Downloads.htm I have not seen anything cheaper.
