UART Hardware

Started by mola...@yahoo.com May 19, 2005
Hello
I am trying to interface a hardware UART to mcBSP.I read some of the messages in which I have seen people who already implemented the task.I would be grateful to you if you can tell me whether the explanation given in SPRA633B is sufficient or do I need to hav any extra hardware also.I would be thankful if you can give me a circuit level diagram or atleast the ICs required to accomplish the task perfectly.

Hi,

I don't remember the details in spra633B, but I have done it this way:
- connect a clock source to CLKS
- connect RX to DR and FSR
- connect TX to DX
- MAX221 is used as line driver

I use CLKR, CLKX and FSX as GPIOs, but this is a bit tricky :-)
