Bootloader and secondbootloader and flash possibility

Started by stephane D September 28, 2005
Hi guys,
My DSP c6416 is racked in a VME bus and I would like
to know if it is possible to flash a new version of
the code when and other version is already in the
flash and running.
The DSP can't be flashed by JTAG, the code has to be
sent like data through the VME bus.

Hello Stephane,

If by "flash a new version of the code when and other version is already in the flash and running.", you really mean that code is being executed by the 6416 from the FLASH then you could have a problem.

If you can halt/take over the DSP, you can erase and reprogram the FLASH.  If on the other hand you are executing from FLASH, you need to figure out how to work around a couple of problems.  Since you must erase a sector to program it, you should ensure that the DSP is executing from RAM while the "FLASH task" is running.  You will also need to be able to meet the program timing requirements of the FLASH...
