Hi, Iam having few installation issues with my TMS320C6701 EVM board. The Board is a PCI slot card which goes into the mother board pci slot with an embedded jtag and not an external one. the issue is that, while the evm board is recognised and installed under emulation in device manager, there is one other unknown device which iam not able to install(not able to find a driver for, neither in ccs v2 cd nor in win98 cd). This device, i donot know what it is .... the other problem is that if i cancel this device's installation and then try to run ccs(v2) on the evm it hangs and it hangs fatally... Now ,my doubts are manifold... 1]has ti forgot to bundle some required driver along with this evm? (i have an evm,2 manuals, one ccs v2 cd and one xpress dsp cd,thats all!!) 2]i have tried few combinations of the dip switch whi also doesnt seem to help 3]is there any other patch available for such problems? Regards, Bhooshan |

In some PCs it wont work at all . If you contact TI support they have a documment that gives some hints. Also the EVM have problems with certain 3com ethernet cards and some graphic cards. If possible try a different PC. Check your BIOS settings, especially the "Plug and Play OS" one. Try _both_ settings (yes and no). Win98 is supposed to be a plug and play os and hence "yes" should be appropriate but I recently installed a EVM card in a PC with win2000 and it wouldnt work unless I set plug and play os : no. The driver for the EVM card is very old and I belive it has PCI compatibilty issues. /Regards, P Ligander |

Hey all, Speaking of potential compatibility problems with older PCI chipsets and the like, has anyone had any experience in designing with TI's PCI2040 bridge that connects the PCI bus to up to 4 c5x/c6x DSP HPI ports? Looking at very soon laying out a new design with C'6711, and it seemed like a good option for nearly glueless connectability. Anyone had any positive (or negative) experience with this part, and/or is there one you would recommend using as an alternative? Regards, -- Matt |
