JTag Emulator

Started by Wayne J March 30, 2006
Our company has a DSP board based the C67x DSP. I did the work on the
Software about a year ago. We are now starting up a new project to
augment the functionality of the software. When I did the original work
we used a modified DSK to talk to our board. It was never extremely
reliable, one only have one, and the guy who did the modifications has
moved on. We are now looking at buying a JTag emulator to work with CCS
and our custom DSP board.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Currently the DSP is a pretty low
volume item, an add on to some test equipment we make, so we would like
to keep the price down.

Thanks in advance.

Our company sell a parallel port emulator for about USD 600 that works Ok
on single or dual processor boards.

It's not fast (10 MHz clock), has issues with multiple processors (like 4
or more) and requires a parallel port (which can be ugly on some PCs), but
does work fine and keeps the cost down when high performance and is not
required.

If you want high performance, like clock auto-ranging, then the Blackhawk
emulators are really good.
