c6713 + LCD Display

Started by georg laban April 12, 2006
hi! i've got a c6713 board and i want to use a LCD
Display (1 row, 16 signs) to show what process is
running.

does anybody know what type of display is the best or
does anybody have got a good tutorial about learning
to controll an LCD Display by using an c6713?

thanks georg!

ps: sorry for the bad english.

hi,

i feel that displaying itself is a time consuming
process.

LCDs require a lot of wait states(after each command
and data inputs to the LCD controller) and you might
end up wasting a lot of time trying to display.

if it is un-necessary in the final product, i would
advice you to stay away from doing it.

you can display inside CCS using DSP-BIOS and
log_printf command (even though i am not very familiar
with DSP-BIOS, i know that thia can be done).

hope this helps you,

if i am wrong, i request the members of this group to
correct me and help.

bye

Hi Georg,

In my project I use 2x16 LCD display to show inwhich process C6713 is. I just used the data pins of Memory Expansion Module(J4). I drived lcd by a microcontroller of Microchip(pic) because it is a very easy and well-explained topic in Pic CCS. C6713 uses data pins as outputs and in every different state of your operation you may change the status of these outputs. I combined outputs to Pic as input.Pic recognizes different states and writes related things to LCD. If you want to ask any questions just send me e-mails.Good luck with your project.
