i wish to confiure McBSP as uart , and i could find two ways for that ,
one , seting as serial port ,
another as general purpose input output

1)what is the difference between these ,

2) which one is better? and easy to program?

Joshy,

using the McBSP as a UART transmitter is straightforward, but the receiver
part is quite complicated. TI has an application note available (spra633b),
but I don't have any experience with it.

If you do require a RS232 transceiver for your project anyway, consider the
MAXIM MAX3111E - a real UART plus RS232 transceiver in a single package
with SPI interface. Connect it to the McBSP in CLKSTP mode. This will give
you the least trouble and the best performance.
