Should there be a frequency shift dependent on microphone?

Started by noodle22 February 26, 2009
Hi,

I am created a pitch detector and I have noticed that I get shifted
results depending on which microphone I use. Has anyone else noticed this
type of behavior? I've created a calibration curve to compensate but the
shift did surprise me a bit.

When the output frequencies differ from the input frequencies (microphone, speaker, tone control, whatever) the thingy distorts. That doesn't apply to amplitudes. Probably, your microphones emphasize different harmonics, affecting the software you use.
